Terms of service

Last updated October 2, 2026.

These terms govern your use of Spare3DPrinter (the "Marketplace"). By creating an account you agree to them.

What the Marketplace is

The Marketplace connects people who want 3D-printed parts ("Buyers") with independent owners of 3D printers ("Makers"). We provide the website and payment handling. We do not print, inspect or ship items, and Makers are independent contractors, not our employees or agents.

Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
  • Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Orders and prices

  • The price shown when you upload a model is an estimate. A Maker sets the final price after reviewing your file.
  • An order is formed when a Buyer pays a Maker's quoted price.
  • Makers must print with the material agreed, and ship within the turnaround they listed, unless they tell the Buyer a different date in the order messages.

Payments and holding of funds

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Buyers pay the Marketplace. Funds are held and are released to the Maker when the Buyer confirms the part arrived, or automatically 10 days after the Maker marks the order shipped, unless a dispute is open.
  • The Marketplace keeps a fee of 12% of the print price (not shipping) from each completed order.
  • Makers must complete Stripe's identity verification before they can send quotes. Makers are responsible for reporting and paying any taxes on their earnings.

Cancellations, refunds and disputes

  • A Buyer can cancel for free before paying. After paying, a Buyer can cancel for a full refund until the Maker starts printing.
  • A Maker can cancel a paid order at any time before it ships; the Buyer is refunded in full.
  • If a part arrives damaged, wrong, or materially different from what was agreed, the Buyer can open a dispute before funds are released. We review the messages and photos from both sides and decide whether to refund the Buyer or release payment to the Maker. Our decision is final within the Marketplace.

Content you upload

You must have the right to have any model you upload printed. You may not upload or request anything listed on the what can't be printed page. We may remove content, cancel orders and suspend accounts that break these rules, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities.

Quality and safety

Printed parts vary by machine, material and settings. Makers don't guarantee that parts are suitable for load-bearing, safety-critical, medical or food-contact use, and Buyers must not use them that way unless the Maker has expressly agreed in writing in the order messages.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Marketplace is provided "as is," and our total liability for any claim related to an order is limited to the amount paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or on the site before it applies to new orders.
